Much has been made of the talent available or lack there of from the OHL this year. Many scouts are calling it the worst group from the league that they have seen. One scout when asked to contribute said, “I’m not sure there are 10 guys from the OHL that I would draft. That is perfectly visible in this poll too. Scouts are still so divided on who the top 5 from the league are, let alone the top As of right now, only Suzuki and Kaliyev look like sure bets to be first round picks.

The skeletal remains and ash residue cremains often become the object of religious rites, one for the body and one for the bones. The anthropologist Robert Hertz has described this as a double burial, with a “wet” first phase coping with the corpse and its decay, and a “dry” second phase treating the skeletal remains and ash.
The chief difference between cremation and burial is the speed of transformation: Corpses burn in two hours or less, but bodies take months or years to decay, depending upon methods used and local soil conditions. The method of body disposal least like cremation is mummification, which seeks to preserve the body rather than destroy it. Ancient Cremation Archaeological evidence shows cremation rituals dating back to ancient times.
In classical antiquity, cremation was a military procedure and thus was associated with battlefield honors. Both cremation and the interment of cremated remains are described in Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, both dating from the eighth century B. The seventeenth-century French painter Nicolas Poussin echoed another classical story in his masterpiece The Ashes of Phocion, perhaps the most famous of all cremation-linked paintings, in which a faithful wife gathers the ashes of her husband, an improperly shamed leader who was cremated without the proper rites.
The ritual cremation of Roman emperors involved the release of an eagle above the cremation pyre to symbolize his deification and the passing of the emperor-god’s spirit. The reasons for shifts between cremation and burial in classical times are not always apparent; fashion or even the availability of wood may have been involved. Cremation Cultures It was in India and in the Indian-influenced cultures of Buddhism and Sikhism that cremation developed into a central and enduring social institution.

However, in common or colloquial usage, a “hotline” often refers to a call center reachable by dialing a standard telephone number, or sometimes the phone numbers themselves. This is especially the case with hour, noncommercial numbers, such as police tip hotlines or suicide crisis hotlines , which are staffed around the clock and thereby give the appearance of real hotlines.
Increasingly, however, the term is found being applied to any customer service telephone number. United States—Russia[ edit ] The most famous hotline between states is the Moscow—Washington hotline , which is also known as the “red telephone”, although telephones have never been used in this capacity. This direct communications link was established on 20 June , in the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis , and utilized teletypewriter technology, later replaced by telecopier and then by electronic mail.
Russia—China[ edit ] A hotline connection between Moscow and Beijing was used during the frontier confrontation between the two countries.

Acting companies in London during the Renaissance were perennially in search of new plays. They usually paid on a piecework basis, to freelance writers. Publishing as it is known today depends on a series of three major inventions—writing, paper, and printing—and one crucial social development—the spread of literacy. Before the invention of writing, perhaps by the Sumerians in the 4th millennium bc, information could be spread only by word of mouth, with all the accompanying limitations of place and time.
Writing was originally regarded not as a means of disseminating information but as a way to fix religious formulations or to secure codes of law, genealogies, and other socially important matters, which had previously been committed to memory. Publishing could begin only after the monopoly of letters, often held by a priestly caste, had been broken, probably in connection with the development of the value of writing in commerce. Scripts of various kinds came to be used throughout most of the ancient world for proclamations, correspondence, transactions, and records; but book production was confined largely to religious centres of learning, as it would be again later in medieval Europe.

To increase phylogenetic resolution among major groups Wahlenbergieae—Campanuleae , new sequences from the rbcL region were added to the trnL-F dataset obtained in a previous study. These phylogenies were used to infer ancestral areas and divergence times in Campanula and related genera using a Bayesian approach to molecular dating and dispersal—vicariance analyses that takes into account phylogenetic uncertainty.
The new phylogenetic analysis confirms Platycodoneae as the sister group of Wahlenbergieae—Campanuleae, the two last ones inter-graded into a well-supported clade. Biogeographic and dating analyses suggest that Western Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean have played a major role as centers of migration and diversification within the Campanula alliance, probably in relation to the intense orogenic activity that took place in this region during the Late Neogene, and that could have promoted isolation and allopatric speciation within lineages.
Diversification rates within several Campanula lineages would have increased at the end of the Miocene, coinciding with the Messinian Stage.

When Wilfred was born, his parents lived in a comfortable house owned by his grandfather, Edward Shaw. After Edward’s death in January , and the house’s sale in March, the family lodged in the back streets of Birkenhead. There Thomas Owen temporarily worked in the town employed by a railway company. Thomas transferred to Shrewsbury in April where the family lived with Thomas’ parents in Canon Street.
Owen discovered his poetic vocation in about during a holiday spent in Cheshire. He was raised as an Anglican of the evangelical type, and in his youth was a devout believer, in part due to his strong relationship with his mother, which lasted throughout his life. His early influences included the Bible and the “big six” of romantic poetry , particularly John Keats. Owen’s last two years of formal education saw him as a pupil-teacher at the Wyle Cop school in Shrewsbury.
In return for free lodging, and some tuition for the entrance exam this has been questioned[ citation needed ] Owen worked as lay assistant to the Vicar of Dunsden near Reading , living in the vicarage from September to February During this time he attended classes at University College, Reading now the University of Reading , in botany and later, at the urging of the head of the English Department, took free lessons in Old English.
His time spent at Dunsden parish led him to disillusionment with the Church, both in its ceremony and its failure to provide aid for those in need. There he met the older French poet Laurent Tailhade , with whom he later corresponded in French.
