My wife and I saw a couples counselor that was not listed in your directory, and we were very disappointed. After locating Marriage Friendly Therapists, we located an excellent therapist who has been a tremendous help for our marriage.

Stop reporting your boy or girlfriend to their parents, siblings, friends, etc. They are not the problem rather you. Dating means to study someone for marriage, not to change someone for marriage. You can’t change people just because you love them. They rather can change themselves because they love you. If the one you are dating shows you their real character and you are not happy with it, talk to them about it, give them time to work on that. If with all the time, advice and effort, they are not changing for the better, it means they don’t love you and there is no need reporting them to their loved ones.

What you really need is counselling if you are not sure you are doing the right thing, or you want to find out whether they are the right person for you or not, instead of trying to change them into the right person for you. If the one you love sees the value of being with you, working on themselves and their character becomes easy for them. You wouldn’t need to convince them or force their loved ones to convince them to change for you. If you have to let go of such a relationship, you don’t have to feel guilty for doing what is best for you.

You don’t follow your feelings, you follow your future.

Learn what to look for, what questions to ask, and what to do when you keep hitting road blocks. I get e-mails daily from women all over the world asking if I can refer them to a good sex addiction counselor in their area. The co-addict model says a person who is married to a sex addict is sick, out of control, addicted to their spouse, and implies she is partially to blame for his behavior, simply because she chose to marry a sex addict, even though the vast majority of the time she did not even know he was an addict.

Symptoms of PTSD have been shown to mimic symptoms of co-addiction, but still most therapists are sticking to this outdated model which is doing great harm to partners. But it may prove to be more challenging than it should be. Below are some tips I hope you will find helpful in finding a counselor who will offer you the validation and guidance you need and deserve.

There are several species who are resistant to the telepathy and empathy of Betazoids such as the Ferengi , the Breen and the Ulians. In season 1 she meets a potential spouse in ” Haven “.

In later episodes, Troi has romantic involvements with several others, including a brief relationship with Klingon Starfleet officer Lieutenant Worf.

When communication stops, feelings of doubt, mistrust and hurt can settle on both spouses. This may be the time to reach out to a marriage counselor. A certified marriage counselor’s job is to guide a couple in determining what the real issues are, how to better solve differences and how to judge whether the marriage is salvageable. Counsels Individual and Couples A marriage counselor sees both individuals and married couples. Sometimes, a woman will seek counseling on her own because her husband refuses to attend meetings or she wants advice about him without him hearing the conversations.

Other times, a couple concludes together that the marriage is not working and attends sessions together in order to better understand what led them to discord. When a couple comes to counseling together, it is the marriage counselor’s job to decipher what really is going on behind the complaints, to help to mediate discussions and get the couple to agree on rules and boundaries in order to get the marriage back on track. Keeps It Real A marriage counselor is not a psychiatrist, and cannot diagnose and treat mental illnesses that play havoc on a marriage.

However, the counselor can make suggestions about what underlying issues, such as drug abuse, childhood experiences or depression, he sees that might be contributing to the couple’s troubles. The counselor is then responsible for referring the person to the appropriate medical doctor, if necessary. Once treatment is started, the marriage counseling still can continue with discussions about what needs to be done to mend the marriage.

Provides Level Ground The role of a marriage counselor is to provide clients a safe, neutral place for couples to talk openly about what is disrupting the marriage. The counselor is highly skilled at making sure each person fights or discusses fairly, without the sense that one person is bullying the other or dominating the discussion. In addition, the marriage counselor helps the couple to cope with emotions, such as feeling betrayed, that are revealed during counseling sessions.

Individual Adults. Individual counseling is an opportunity to talk confidentially with a trained, professional counselor about personal concerns to facilitate personal growth.

It’s a natural reaction to circumstances that put us on the defensive. For many, divorce is the perfect storm that triggers all our anger issues. When we’re parents and cannot manage our anger, it can take over our lives and affect the well-being of our children. Focusing our anger on our divorcing spouse can fuel the fire to dangerous levels for everyone involved. Anger is a feeling that alerts us that something is wrong. What we fail to understand is that we, as human beings, have choices about how to act on those feelings.

Acting before thinking can lead to mismanaged anger. Once we have reacted to anger, we have allowed our feelings to control us. This can lead to actions and behaviors we never would have taken if we were making rational choices. Knowing how to manage anger can help us set limits and determine comfortable boundaries in our relationships — including a co-parenting relationship with an ex.

If managing anger has been a challenge, it is important to identify “red flag” warnings in advance before we explode out of control.
